Peek Inside Our Virtual Literacy Classroom
A short, parent-friendly tour of a live Week 1 lesson ("All About Me") — letters M & A, word families, sight words, and a joyful read-aloud.

SEL Check-In: Mood Board
We begin every session by checking in with a colorful mood board. Children point, hold up fingers, or tell the teacher how they're feeling — a quick way to connect before we read and play.
Parent tip: Encourage your child to show their drawing or describe their feeling on camera. This builds emotional awareness and speaking skills!

Letter Focus: M & A
We introduce the week's letters with chants, picture cues (eg. monkey, apple), sky-writing on camera, and by highlighting letters in children's names so learning feels personal.
Parent tip: Have a few objects nearby that start with M or A for your child to show. Practice "sky writing" letters in the air together!

Word Family: -at and -ap
The teacher builds word families live on the Miro board (e.g. at → mat, cat, hat) while students read with the teacher and suggest rhymes — even silly ones!
Parent tip: Celebrate any attempt at rhyming — that's phonics practice in action. Make up silly rhyming words together at home!

Sight Words with Actions
Sight words (I, am, my, a, me, we) appear with picture cues. Kids read aloud, then act out short sentences so the words stick through movement and meaning.
Parent tip: Help your child act the sentence at home later — it's a fun review. Movement helps memory!

Reading Together: Decodables
We read short, decodable pages aligned to the week's phonics. Children choral read, then take turns with the teacher to build confidence and fluency.
Parent tip: Read the same short page aloud at home — repetition builds mastery. Let your child be the teacher and "read" to you!

Read-Aloud: I Like Myself
A joyful picture book prompts talk about self-esteem and text details. Students answer simple questions and share one thing they like about themselves.
Parent tip: Ask your child at bedtime, "What did you like most about today's story?" Continue the self-esteem conversation!

Wrap-Up & Celebrate
We end with a quick review of words and rhymes learned and a moment of praise. Each child leaves with a clear idea of what they accomplished.
Parent tip: Offer specific praise — "I loved how you found the /m/ sound!" Specific feedback helps children understand their growth.
